Healdsburg is a year-round destination, but peak season runs from May through October when the weather is reliably good and the vineyards are at their most active.
Summer (June–September): Warm, dry days with temperatures in the high 20s to low 30s°C. The Russian River and Dry Creek Valley are at their most beautiful, and harvest begins in late August. Accommodation books out completely on summer weekends — plan and reserve well ahead. The plaza is at its liveliest.
Autumn (October–November): The best time for wine country visitors. Harvest is in full swing through October; the vineyards turn red and gold, the light is extraordinary, and the crowds thin out compared to summer. Weather remains warm and dry through October.
Winter (December–February): Quiet, green, and atmospheric. The vines are bare but the hills turn emerald. Wine country is largely empty of tourists, accommodation prices drop significantly, and the restaurants are still open and excellent. The occasional rainstorm sweeps through but rarely disrupts a day.
Spring (March–May): The vines push new growth, wildflowers bloom on the hillsides, and the weather slowly warms. Spring is underrated in wine country — mild, uncrowded, and visually striking when the mustard flowers bloom between the vine rows in late February and March.
