Jeune et Jolie is a French-inspired restaurant in south Oceanside (near the Carlsbad border) that opened to immediate critical praise. The name means "young and pretty" in French, but the cooking is more than decorative — this is serious modern French bistro fare: terrines, crudo, braised meats and whole fish, with strong European technique applied to local California produce.
The room is intimate and atmospheric, with an old-world feel that makes it one of the more romantic dining spots in northern San Diego County. The cocktail programme is well above average, and the wine list is particularly strong in natural French producers.
