The Muckenthaler Cultural Center occupies a 1924 Italianate mansion on a hilltop on the western edge of Fullerton, built by oil industry executive Walter Muckenthaler. The estate was donated to the city in 1965 and now houses rotating art exhibitions, a small permanent collection, and a busy programme of concerts and theatrical performances in the gardens and indoor halls.
The setting is the main draw — manicured grounds, mature trees, and one of Orange County's more elegant pre-war houses. Summer brings open-air productions and a popular series of motor-car shows on the lawn. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Admission is modest.
