Downtown Palo Alto and the Stanford campus are both walkable, and the two are connected by a direct route along University Avenue (about 2 km). Cycling is easy — Palo Alto has a good network of bike lanes and is flat. Bike share docks are available around University Avenue and the train station.
The free Marguerite shuttle runs between the Palo Alto Caltrain station and several points on the Stanford campus during the academic year. It is open to the public. Within downtown, everything is within a few minutes' walk of the Caltrain station.
