San Jose has one of the gentlest climates of any major American city. Summers are warm and dry, with daytime highs around 28-30°C from June through September and almost no rainfall; the air dries out enough by late afternoon to make evenings pleasant. Winters are mild, with daytime temperatures usually between 12 and 18°C and most of the year's rain falling between November and March.
Spring (March to early May) is the most reliably beautiful time to visit: the hills are green, the Municipal Rose Garden is in early bloom, and afternoons are warm without being hot. Autumn is also good, though it can run dry and brown. The city hosts a Vietnamese Tet Festival in late January or February, the SubZero Festival of arts in June, and the Christmas in the Park light display through December.
