Safari West is a private wildlife preserve in the hills north of Santa Rosa, with giraffes, antelope, rhinos, birds, and other animals seen on guided safari-style drives. It is an unusual Sonoma County detour: more family adventure than wine country, but still rooted in the region's rolling oak landscape.
Tours are the main reason to go, and reservations are essential. It is expensive compared with a park or museum, but for families or wildlife-focused travellers it can be one of the most memorable stops around Santa Rosa.
