Getting Around

Santa Monica is unusually walkable for a Southern California city. The core area between the pier, Third Street Promenade, and Palisades Park is easily covered on foot. The Big Blue Bus runs throughout the city and connects to the Metro system. Cycling is excellent along the Marvin Braude Bike Trail (the Strand), which runs along the beach from Pacific Palisades to Torrance. Bike rentals and electric scooters are widely available near the pier and Promenade. For areas beyond the centre — Montana Avenue, Bergamot Station — a car or rideshare makes more sense.
