Bidwell Bar Bridge is one of Oroville's strongest links to early California engineering. The original suspension bridge was shipped around Cape Horn and completed in the 1850s, serving Gold Rush traffic before the creation of Lake Oroville changed the landscape around it.
Today the bridge is best visited as part of Lake Oroville State Recreation Area. It gives you a concrete piece of history amid a landscape now dominated by reservoir water, recreation, and the massive dam works that remade the Feather River canyon.
