Getting There

Weaverville is not easy to reach, which is part of its character. There is no rail service and no scheduled bus service. A car is essentially required.

By car from Redding: The most common approach is Highway 299 west from Redding, about 45 miles and an hour's drive. The road is scenic but winding through the mountains; allow extra time in poor weather.

By car from the coast: From Eureka, Highway 299 runs east through Arcata and then inland to Weaverville — about 110 miles and two to two-and-a-half hours.

By air: The nearest commercial airport is Redding Municipal Airport (RDD), served by United Express with connections to San Francisco and Los Angeles. From there it's the hour's drive on 299. San Francisco International (SFO) is a more flexible option if you're flying in from further away; the drive from SFO is about four hours, mostly on I-5 north and then 299 west from Redding.

Weaverville Airport (FAA: O54) is a small general aviation field with no scheduled service, used by private pilots and emergency medical flights.
