Weaverville punches well above its size when it comes to attractions. The Joss House is one of California's most historically significant buildings, and the surrounding Trinity Alps wilderness offers some of the most spectacular and least-crowded backcountry in the state. The historic downtown is compact and walkable, with a genuine Gold Rush atmosphere rather than a manufactured one.
