King Taco is the long-running LA chain founded in 1974, and the Torrance branch on Hawthorne Boulevard is one of the more reliable outposts. The al pastor with the cone of spit-roasted pork sliced to order, the carne asada chopped on a hot grill, the green and red salsas blended to a chunky, fiery consistency in the back kitchen — this is honest, fast, properly-made LA Mexican food at a sensible price.
Open until late, drive-through, and the queues move quickly. The horchata is house-made and worth ordering.
