The Napa Valley Museum sits on the grounds of the Veterans Home and is the place to get the rest of the valley's story — the parts about land use, the agricultural history, and the social shape of a region that is more than just wineries. Permanent exhibits cover the Wappo people, the Mexican land grants, the wine industry's near-collapse during Prohibition, and the reinvention from the 1960s on.
A small museum, easy to do in an hour. The rotating contemporary art shows in the Spotlight Gallery are sometimes the best reason to visit.
