Old Town is the heart of Fort Collins — the walkable, red-brick-and-wide-sidewalk district that gives the city its character. The core of it is along College Avenue and Mountain Avenue, where 19th-century commercial buildings have been converted into restaurants, bars, boutique shops, and the taprooms of several of the city's best-known breweries.
On warm evenings, the pedestrian areas fill up with students from Colorado State, families, and the general Fort Collins population doing exactly what a well-designed town centre is supposed to enable: strolling, eating, drinking, and running into people they know. The Farmer's Market operates on Saturday mornings in the summer and is one of the best in northern Colorado. Old Town Square has seasonal events and a permanent stage for outdoor concerts.
