Grand Junction has a better dining scene than its size would suggest, driven partly by the wine region next door and partly by the outdoor recreation crowd with money to spend. The downtown strip along Main Street has the highest concentration of restaurants.
626 on Rood (626 Rood Ave) is consistently the best restaurant in town — New American cooking with local sourcing and a strong wine list featuring Western Slope producers. Bin 707 Foodbar nearby pairs small plates with an extensive local wine selection. For burgers and craft beer, Kannah Creek Brewing Company is the local institution, with a patio and views of the mesa. The Mesa County Farmers Market, running Thursday afternoons and Saturday mornings in summer, is worth a visit for Palisade peaches and local produce.
