You need a car inside Mesa Verde. Chapin Mesa has the densest cluster of sights, while Wetherill Mesa is seasonal and farther away. Bring water, sun protection, and patience; many stops involve short walks at altitude, and some cliff-dwelling tours include ladders or tight passages.
