Snowmass Base Village

Rebuilt plaza at the foot of the mountain, the social heart of the resort

Snowmass had a base area for decades but only assembled a real "village" in the late 2000s onwards. The result is a pedestrian plaza with restaurants, ski rental, a small ice rink in winter, and lift-served gondolas to the mountain. It is unmistakably a built-from-scratch resort plaza — there is no old town here — but it functions well, particularly for families.

Free events run through the winter and summer: outdoor concerts, fire pits, après-ski parties. The Treehouse Kids Adventure Center, at the foot of the gondola, is one of the larger and better-equipped children's ski schools in the United States.
