Telluride Regional Airport (TEX) is right at the edge of town, a mesa-top strip with some of the most dramatic approaches in commercial aviation. Direct seasonal flights connect it to Denver, Dallas/Fort Worth, and Los Angeles. The approach and departure involve manoeuvring through the peaks, and the airport sits at over 9,000 feet — which means weather cancellations are more common here than at lower-altitude airports. Always have a backup plan.
Montrose Regional Airport (MTJ), about 100km away, is a lower-altitude alternative with more flights and better reliability, served by more airlines. Ground transport (rental cars) is available, and the drive from Montrose through the mountains is excellent.
By car, Telluride is about 7 hours from Denver — the drive goes through mountains most of the way — and 4 hours from Albuquerque. The town sits at the end of a canyon with a single road in, so traffic on busy festival weekends can back up on Highway 145.
