Telluride's setting is so dramatic that simply walking from one end of Colorado Avenue to the other, with a 13,000-foot wall of peaks at the end of the street, counts as an activity. Beyond that, the ski mountain in winter and the hiking trails in summer provide most of the action — plus the festivals that fill the summers from June to October.
