Lewes is small and walkable, and most of what is worth seeing sits in or near the historic district along Second Street and along the canal front. The town leans into its Dutch colonial past — there is a museum, an oldest-house contest, and a clock tower commemorating the 1631 settlement. Cape Henlopen State Park, on the edge of town, is the other half of the visit: beaches, dunes, walking trails, and the concrete towers and bunkers left over from the Second World War.
