Fort Christina State Park

Fort Christina State Park marks the site where Swedish settlers established Fort Christina in 1638, the first permanent European settlement in Delaware. The original fort is gone, but the site still matters as the starting point of New Sweden on the Christina River.

What you see today is mainly a memorial landscape, including a monument gifted by Sweden. Pair it with nearby Old Swedes Church for a clearer picture of Wilmington's early colonial history.
