The Riverfront is the redeveloped industrial strip along the Christina River south of downtown — once a wasteland of abandoned shipyards and rail yards, now a mile-long district of restaurants, hotels, the Delaware Children's Museum, the DuPont Environmental Education Center, and the Riverfront Market.
The walk along the river is the obvious thing to do — a paved riverwalk leads from the downtown end past the convention centre to the Russell W. Peterson Wildlife Refuge marshes at the south. Wilmington Blue Rocks minor-league baseball play at Frawley Stadium just off the riverwalk in summer.
The Delaware Children's Museum and the Constitution Yards beer garden are good rainy-day or family options.
