Three miles of fine white quartz sand and calm, shallow Gulf water make Clearwater Beach one of the most popular stretches of coastline in Florida. The sand stays cool underfoot even in summer, and the water runs a striking shade of turquoise on clear days. Volleyball nets, umbrella rentals, and cabana setups line the main stretch, and the whole scene skews lively rather than secluded.
The beachfront is backed by a pedestrian promenade called Beach Walk, a winding path lined with palm trees and low landscaping that connects hotels and restaurants along the Gulf side. Parasailing, jet ski rentals, and fishing charters operate from the nearby marina. Parking is metered and fills early on weekends, so arrive before 10 a.m. or take the Jolley Trolley from downtown. No alcohol is allowed on the sand, and lifeguards are on duty until 4:30 p.m.
