Ichetucknee Springs State Park, about an hour northwest, offers tubing down a crystal-clear spring-fed river through subtropical forest — one of the best natural experiences in Florida. Ginnie Springs, closer to town, is a popular spot for swimming and scuba diving in spring-fed pools with exceptional water clarity.
Silver Springs, about 45 minutes south near Ocala, has been a Florida attraction since the 19th century when glass-bottomed boats were introduced to let visitors see the underwater spring environment. The springs are among the largest in the world.
