Gainesville's appeal is concentrated in two areas: the University of Florida campus and the natural surroundings. The Florida Museum of Natural History is genuinely world-class, and the Butterfly Rainforest next door is one of the best in the country. The Devil's Millhopper Geological State Park is a sinkhole with its own micro-ecosystem — something you will not find anywhere else. Outside the city, the natural springs are the region's greatest asset.
