Busch Wildlife Sanctuary

Busch Wildlife Sanctuary is a wildlife rehabilitation centre that also functions as one of the most accessible places in South Florida to see native animals up close. Permanently injured or non-releasable animals — owls, eagles, alligators, otters, bobcats, deer, Florida panthers — live in large naturalistic enclosures along a wooded trail through northern Jupiter. It is particularly good for children, but interesting for anyone unfamiliar with Florida's native fauna.

The sanctuary takes in around 5,000 injured animals per year, treats them, and releases those that recover. The permanent residents are animals that could not survive in the wild. The facility is run as a nonprofit, supported by donations and admission fees. It sits on Rocky Pines Road in the rural northwestern part of Jupiter, in a setting that already feels more like the real Florida than the manicured coastal strip.
