St. Marks Trail

16-mile paved trail from Tallahassee to the Gulf coast

A 16-mile paved multi-use trail running from the southern edge of Tallahassee to the St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge on the Gulf coast. Built on an 1837 railroad bed, the trail passes through longleaf pine flatwoods and coastal marsh. It's flat, well-maintained, and popular with cyclists. The southern terminus at the St. Marks Lighthouse, built in 1829, is worth the ride on its own. Bike rentals are available in Tallahassee near the northern trailhead.
