Fort Oglethorpe's main draw is the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, which surrounds the town on multiple sides and preserves one of the most consequential — and bloodiest — battlefields of the Civil War. Beyond the park, the town has a small historic district with a connection to the old military post that gave the city its name.
