Macon sits on I-75 roughly midway between Atlanta and Valdosta. The drive from Atlanta's city centre takes about 80 miles and typically 90 minutes. There is no commercial airline service at Middle Georgia Regional Airport (the nearest significant airport is Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International). Amtrak's Crescent line stops at the Macon station on its route between New York and New Orleans; the station is downtown, within walking distance of several attractions.
By Greyhound bus, Macon is connected to Atlanta (roughly 1.5 hours) and other major Georgia cities. Once in Macon, the downtown attractions are walkable; the Big House on Vineville Avenue and the Ocmulgee Mounds east of downtown require a car or ride-share.
