A 20-room lodge on the shoulder of Frosty Mountain in the Chattahoochee National Forest, reached only by a five-mile hike from Amicalola Falls. The Inn is LEED-certified — solar electricity, composting toilets, very little waste — and was deliberately built to be unreachable by car. Visitors hike in carrying a daypack; bedding, meals, and showers are provided.
The Inn is a comfortable alternative to camping for those wanting to overnight in the Springer area, especially for newcomers to backcountry travel. The dining hall serves family-style meals; check-in is at the Amicalola Falls visitor centre, where you leave your car and any non-essentials. Reservations are required and book months in advance, especially in spring and autumn.
