Springer Mountain Shelter

A typical Appalachian Trail three-sided lean-to, sleeping about a dozen, located 0.2 miles north of the Springer summit. Used by departing thru-hikers on their first night and by section hikers and weekend visitors at other times.

The shelter has a privy, a bear cable for hanging food, and a small spring downhill. Like all AT shelters it is first-come, first-served and free to use; bring a tent in case it fills. The flat ground around the shelter has space for several tents.
