USS LST-325 is a rare surviving Landing Ship, Tank, the blunt-nosed workhorse that carried troops, vehicles, and supplies directly onto invasion beaches during the Second World War. Moored on the Evansville riverfront, it is now a museum ship you can board rather than just admire from the quay.
The appeal is physical and immediate: narrow passageways, crew spaces, vehicle decks, and the scale of a ship built for utility rather than elegance. Evansville built many LSTs during the war, so the museum also ties the vessel to the city's own industrial history on the Ohio River.
