Sand Cave

Sand Cave is a short trail stop tied to one of the most famous stories in Mammoth Cave country. In 1925, cave explorer Floyd Collins became trapped here, and the failed rescue attempt drew national attention.

The cave itself is not a show cave and the visit is brief, but the story gives the place weight. It makes the most sense as a quiet add-on to Mammoth Cave National Park or the nearby Floyd Collins Museum.
