Frankfort has no commercial airport — the nearest airports are Lexington's Blue Grass Airport (50 km east, about 40 minutes) and Louisville International (90 km west, about an hour). Both are well-served by major US carriers. By car, Frankfort sits at the junction of I-64 and US-60, roughly equidistant between Lexington and Louisville. There is limited intercity bus service; most visitors drive.
The city itself is compact and walkable in the centre, but a car is essential for visiting the distilleries and the surrounding Bluegrass countryside.
