Frankfort punches above its weight for a small state capital. The main draws are three: the architecture (two splendid capitol buildings, Federal-era mansions, and a Victorian commercial district), the bourbon history (Buffalo Trace Distillery is right in town and the Kentucky Bourbon Trail begins here), and the natural setting on the Kentucky River. Frankfort Cemetery's bluff views and the Federal architecture of Liberty Hall are both worth half a day.
