Bourbon is the obvious drink here, and several downtown bars have serious back walls — sometimes 100+ bottles deep. The Distillery District has the most concentrated bourbon scene, anchored by the bottling rooms of the old James E. Pepper distillery. The Chevy Chase neighbourhood on the south side has a more student-oriented bar crawl. Bourbon trail enthusiasts can use Lexington as a base for tours of Woodford Reserve, Buffalo Trace, Four Roses, and the Castle & Key distillery, all within 30–45 minutes of downtown.
