Dudley's on Short

A long-running downtown restaurant in a restored 19th-century schoolhouse on Short Street. The kitchen is solid American with strong Kentucky leanings — bourbon-glazed pork chop, hot brown, fried green tomatoes, blackberry cobbler — and the wine list is well chosen. The dining room is bright and convivial; the patio fills up first on a warm evening. A reliable downtown choice when you do not want to think about it too hard.
