Lexington Cemetery

A 170-acre rural-style cemetery laid out in 1849, planted with tulip poplars, oaks, and magnolias and threaded with quiet drives. Henry Clay's mausoleum, marked by a 120-foot Tuscan column, is the dominant monument; James and Mary Todd Lincoln's relatives are scattered through the older sections, and the eight Lexington jockeys interred here include Isaac Murphy, one of the greatest 19th-century riders. The cemetery doubles as an arboretum; pick up a tree-map at the gate.
