Red River Gorge is a canyon system in the Daniel Boone National Forest in eastern Kentucky, carved over millions of years by the Red River through the sandstone of the Cumberland Plateau. The gorge contains over a hundred natural stone arches, towering cliff lines and densely forested hollows.

Red River Gorge and Natural Bridge State Park are within a few miles of each other. The area is one of the premier rock climbing destinations in the eastern United States, with hundreds of sport climbing routes on the sandstone cliffs. For non-climbers, the gorge offers excellent hiking, with trails leading to arches, rock shelters and overlooks. The scenery is something unique not only to the region but to the country.
