Johnson's Boucanière

Smokehouse and breakfast shop with first-rate boudin and tasso

A smokehouse and Cajun breakfast shop run by the Johnson family, who moved the operation up from rural Eunice in 2008. The boudin — pork-and-rice sausage — is among the best in the region, and the smoked andouille and tasso ham are equally serious. The breakfast plate (boudin, eggs, grits, biscuit) is the regional standard done right.

Counter service in a converted gas station. Open from 7 a.m.; sells out of certain items by lunchtime. Cash and card both fine.
