Goose Rocks Beach

Long sandy beach on the north shore, the quietest and most scenic of the local beaches

Goose Rocks Beach is a long, sandy barrier beach on the north shore of the cape, about 5 km from Dock Square. It's consistently the least crowded of Kennebunkport's beaches — partly because it requires a paid parking sticker in season and partly because it's slightly further from the town centre. The beach itself is wide and clean, with views across Goose Rocks Passage to the offshore islands.

The water is cold even in summer (Maine cold — rarely above 18°C), but the swimming is good on calm days. The beach road is lined with shingle-style summer cottages from the early 20th century, well-preserved and giving the area a proper old-Maine feel. Good for early morning or evening walks when the light is low and the summer crowds are elsewhere.
