Kennebunkport is a fishing port and tourist town on Maine's southern coast. The old section is worth a slow walk — shops, galleries, and restaurants line the streets near the harbour around Dock Square, and several beaches are within easy reach. The town is best known outside Maine as the location of Walker's Point, the Bush family summer estate visible from the Ocean Avenue drive.
Cape Porpoise, a fishing village a few kilometres east, is the least touristy part of the area and the best place to eat lobster. The Seashore Trolley Museum outside town is a surprise — the world's largest collection of historic streetcars, with rides through the Maine woods. The area is popular with weekenders from Boston, so summer weekends can be crowded; September is the best time to visit.
