Kennebunk Beach is actually three beaches — Mother's Beach, Middle Beach, and Gooch's Beach — running along the western shore of the Kennebunk River mouth. Together they form the most accessible stretch of sand near Kennebunkport, and the most popular in summer. Gooch's Beach, the southernmost section, is the largest and has some surf.
The beach is walkable from the Kennebunk town centre, which keeps it busier than Goose Rocks but also more lively. Summer weekends are crowded; weekday mornings in June or September are ideal. Parking is metered or permit-required in peak season. The walk along Beach Avenue from the beach back toward Dock Square passes some of the grandest summer cottages in the area, including the rambling Victorian "Wedding Cake House" on Route 35.
