Built in 1747 on Church Circle directly opposite St. Anne's, Reynold's Tavern is the oldest hatter's shop in the United States and one of the oldest brick buildings in Annapolis. Hatter William Reynolds added an upper storey in 1763 and opened the ground floor as a tavern, which it has remained — with a few gaps — ever since.
Today it operates as a restaurant with afternoon tea service upstairs, lunches and dinners in the dining room, and the 1747 Pub in the cellar serving an unusually good list of British and local cask ales. The brick courtyard out the back is one of the prettiest dining spots in town in good weather. Book ahead for high tea on weekends.
