Cummings Center

Cummings Center is the enormous former United Shoe Machinery Corporation complex, remembered locally as the Shoe. Built in the early 20th century, it was once among the largest reinforced-concrete industrial buildings in the world.

Today the complex is mostly offices and services, but its scale and surviving industrial fabric make it an interesting stop for anyone following Beverly's manufacturing history. Small exhibits and memorials inside explain the company that shaped this part of the city.
