Cambridge has two distinct gravitational pulls — the Harvard end and the MIT end — and the space between them is more interesting than either extreme. The university buildings are worth seeing, but the city's best experiences tend to be in the squares: Harvard Square for the bookshops, Central Square for the music venues and restaurants, Inman Square for the neighbourhood feel. The Charles River riverbank is the connective tissue that ties it all together.
