Herring Cove

Cape Cod National Seashore beach near Provincetown, known for sunsets and calmer bay-side water.

Herring Cove is Provincetown's most accessible Cape Cod National Seashore beach, facing Cape Cod Bay rather than the open Atlantic. That gives it a gentler feel than the outer beaches, with broad sand, easier swimming conditions in season, and sunset views that draw people out in the evening.

It works well whether you want a proper beach day or only a late-afternoon walk after exploring town. Facilities and access are better than at many nearby beaches, but the landscape still feels open and protected once you move away from the main parking area.
