The Provincetown Art Association and Museum is essential for understanding why this small Cape Cod town has such an outsized art reputation. Its exhibitions and collection connect contemporary Provincetown to the long colony of painters, teachers, printmakers, and experimenters who worked here.
It is a natural stop between Commercial Street wandering, galleries, and the harbor. Even a short visit gives useful context for the town's creative identity beyond beaches and nightlife.
