Shatila is a Middle Eastern bakery on a scale not seen anywhere else in the country, with a long glass case of baklava in dozens of forms, knafeh, maamoul, ma'amoul, halva, French pastries, ice cream, and a full café. The Lebanese family that runs it has been at it since 1979. They ship across the United States, and a stop here is part of the standard Dearborn food day.
The chocolate-dipped knafeh and the rosewater ice cream are worth seeking out. There is a smaller location in West Bloomfield. Open late, no alcohol.
