The Mayflower Café

A 1935 Greek-American diner with neon signs, terrazzo floors, and red leather booths that have not been refurbished into being shabby-chic — they are just original. The Mayflower is one of the oldest restaurants in Mississippi, and it has fed everyone from Eudora Welty to Elvis.

The comeback sauce was invented here in the 1930s — order it on a fried snapper or redfish. The Greek salad, with the house dressing, is also unusually good. Cash and cards, dinner only most days.
