Felix Vallé House

The Felix Vallé House (1818) represents a later period of Ste. Genevieve's history — built after the town's commercial heyday but during its transition from French colonial village to American frontier trading post. The house was built by Jean-Baptiste Pratte and later became the home and store of fur trader Felix Vallé, who operated a successful business here during the peak of the Missouri fur trade era.

The building sits on the main street of the old town and now operates as a state historic site with period furnishings. It is maintained separately from the NPS-managed structures but is closely associated with the broader historic district. The combination of French colonial construction methods with an emerging American commercial purpose makes it a useful counterpoint to the purely residential Bolduc House nearby.
